American Founders Bank Woodland Art Fair
The 38th annual American Founders Bank Woodland Art Fair will take place in Lexington, KY August 20-21. This two-day nationally recognized juried event features 200 of the nation’s finest artists and craftspersons. The artists, representing 21 states and Canada, will present work in 12 media categories including: sculpture, 2-D mixed media, ceramics, drawing/pastels, fiber/leather, glass, graphics/printmaking, jewelry, metalwork, painting, photography and wood.
Adding to the festivities, the Lexington Art League booth will provide interactive art experiences for all, live artist demonstrations from the Appalachian Artisan Center, and 3 mobile art installations. In addition, live music will be presented on the Gazebo Stage and family-friendly activities are scheduled for the Kid Zone. Admission to the fair is free!
August 20: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Golf in the Bluegrass
Lexington is a golf lover’s paradise with championship caliber courses and inexpensive greens fees. The Bluegrass Region features two Pete Dye designed golf courses; Kearney Hills Golf Links and the Peninsula Golf Resort. Green fees with a cart are just $40 weekday and $46 weekends at Kearney Hills and the Peninsula Golf Resort offers green fees with a cart for $32 weekdays and $42 weekends. The Griffin Gate Marriott Resort and Spa features a Rees Jones designed course that previously hosted a PGA Senior Tour spot and has been named one of the top 75 U.S. resort courses by Golf Digest magazine. It is one of the more expensive courses in the area but is still a bargain by national standards! Greens fees with a cart run from $35-$75.

Old Friends
Old Friends, a retirement and rescue facility for Thoroughbreds, was started in 2005 when President and founder Michael Blowen discovered Ferdinand (1986 KY Derby Winner) had been slaughtered in Japan in 2002. Garden-Side Suppers at Shaker Village August 13 & 27
This summer, we invite you to visit our garden, meet our gardeners, and experience a remarkable seed-to-table meal in the company of friends, neighbors, and fellow supporters of Kentucky’s food community.
