Visiting or Exploring Temecula – Try a Limo

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Louis de Rosa of Esquire Limousine Service - Photo: M D Hill

Norm and I went to Temecula, California to hear Jesse Cook open the Jazz Series at Thornton Winery. This was a quick 1-night trip and we were staying with friends. We simply did not want to rent a car since our schedule had been crazy and we both were looking for relaxation.  Well, we certainly got it.

We called Louis de Rosa, who owns Esquire Limousine Service at  WineToursCentral.com. Louis picked us up at Ontario airport (he also picks up at San Diego). What a pleasure, riding in the luxury of his limo for the short trip to Temecula. The time flew by, as we relaxed in his well-maintained vehicle.

During the ride, we discovered Louis offers Wine Tours, Dinner/Theatre Packages, and Night on the Town Specials. Having discussed the wineries he visits on wine tours, they are all well-respected and a good representation of the valley. He has lived in the valley quite a while and knows the ins and outs. Over many years, he has developed a well-respected business that you can count on.

When you are looking to be pampered, need a break, or want to take advantage of one of his great tours, I’d suggest you try him. He comes highly recommended by locals and it is easy to see why.

After you have tried Louis, let me know what you think.

How to Have a Wonderful Vacation

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

I wish I could take credit for these, but I can’t. I received this from a PR representative I know, Sara Widness. She got these hits from Brad Moss, Director, Trusted Adventures.

Brad’s tips on how to have a wonderful vacation follow:

Pack Sense of Humor, Anticipate Glitches, Have a Wonderful Vacation

Trusted Adventures Alliance Offers 10 Tried and True Travel Tips To Help Embrace the Unexpected.

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, June 28, 2010 – The Trusted Adventures travel alliance, a membership of nine award-winning travel companies, offers 10 tips to assure a vacation not only comes off as planned but is as rich an experience as possible.

“The bottom line,” said Brad Moss, executive director, “is to expect the unexpected. Surprises, welcome or not, often come when you set foot outside your home. How mentally prepared you are can make the difference between a meltdown and a good laugh.”

“All travel used to be a bit of an adventure; modern technology lulls us into thinking everything will always run like clockwork. It doesn’t! The recent uncertainties of travel (such as volcanic ash and oil spills) now take us back a bit to an older way of traveling which expected a degree of delay and adventure in getting to and from,” he added.

Guests who travel with Trusted Adventures members are in the hands of people trained to prepare for the unexpected, even on scheduled itineraries. After following a host’s guidelines on what to bring on a trip, don’t forget to tuck in a sense of humor while you embrace unexpected surprises.

-First, plan a trip with built-in buffer time and sightseeing activities to accommodate unexpected travel delays, missed connections and lost bags.

-Next, pack a carry-on day bag with enough resources (books, batteries, refreshments, change of clothes, etc) to keep you occupied and happy during unplanned delays and snafus.

-Carry energy-boosting snack bars and bottled water on as many legs of the journey as possible.

-Never pass up an opportunity to use a bathroom and carry a small roll of toilet tissue in your daypack.

-Keep playing cards and travel games handy for transit slow-downs due to weather, road conditions, a religious festival or custom/immigration delays.

-Bring an empty duffel bag for unplanned shopping opportunities.

-Keep your camera charged and readily available for spontaneous photo opportunities.

-Make and secure copies of your passport name page should you and your documents become separated.

-Retain a list of itinerary-related phone numbers and addresses as well as numbers from your home or business life you may need.

-Embrace the new and unexpected – from indigenous food and drink to local dance steps and traditional activities.

Savvy Safety Tips for Less Stressful Holiday Travel From WorldNomads.com

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

These tips seemed well worth passing on to our readers. Anything to ease stress at this time of year is helpful.

SYDNEY, Dec. 7, 2009 – Wrapped presents, home addresses on luggage tags and tipsy travelers can rack up negative travel points and stress, especially during the year-end holidays that count as some of the busiest travel days of the year.

WorldNomads.com, the travel services company that’s in the business of helping independent travelers stay safe and stress-free on the road, offers a web page full of products and tips offering advice, breaking destination news and relevant recommendations about what to do in a pickle. Please see http://safety.worldnomads.com.

In preparation for the upcoming holidays the company recently issued some savvy travel trips to help ease stress before and during travel that include securing your home while you’re gone by canceling newspapers, installing an automatic light timer programmed to go on and off at various times and asking a neighbor to collect mail.

WorldNomads.com also recommends reducing airport stress by allowing ample time to get to your gate; but if you find yourself in long lines, they also offer a free language guide podcast or App that you can download into your iPhone so you can learn a few handy travel phrases. See:
http://journals.worldnomads.com/language-guides/

They suggest traveling light, with hand-held luggage that fits in the overhead compartments (photograph its contents before leaving home and put contact details inside the case); identify ownership on luggage tags but only with a name, cell number and email – no home address please. In the event of delays, pack snacks such as dried fruits and nuts. And, wear shoes that are easy to slide off for security check.

Bring essential medicines with prescriptions, sanitized wipes and if you want to be super-cautious, a face mask for airports and flights.

Presents, either those being given or received, must be unwrapped. Make absolutely sure you know and trust what’s in those presents; don’t unwittingly carry illegal goods through customs.

Drink responsibly; while under the influence of alcohol a traveler is a bigger target for pickpockets and thieves, especially solo and women travelers.

“We are committed to being an integral part of every adventurous traveler’s journey. Since launching in 2002, our focus has been on providing a range of services to keep adventurous and independent travelers safe on the road,” said Chris Nobel, General Manager of WorldNomads.com and the producer of the ‘Positive Footprints’ documentary series.

WorldNomads.com products and services include global travel insurance (http://www.worldnomads.com/insurance.aspx) protecting residents from over 150 countries with high value medical and evacuation coverage, 24-hour emergency assistance and coverage for a large range of adventure activities; language guides (http://journals.worldnomads.com/language-guides/) and travel blogs (http://adventures.worldnomads.com/journals/?m=2) plus a stream of travel safety information to ensure all World Nomads stay informed, educated and safe when traveling.

WorldNomads.com clients may also donate to a range of community development projects when purchasing travel insurance through the company’s Footprints Charity program http://footprints.worldnomads.com/.

Collectively, The Footprints Network (http://www.FootPrintsNetwork.Org/) has raised over $770,000, from over 295,000 donations, which has funded 53 projects across the globe through partner organizations such as Oxfam, Save the Children and Water Aid.

WorldNomads.com provides the tools to keep clients travelling safely throughout the world. For more information visit http://worldnomads.com.
